Part of the Fort Morgan Peninsula is in the Gulf Shores city limits and a great deal of it is designated as Bon Secour Wildlife Reserve. The historic Ft. Morgan is at the very end of the state highway that runs the length of Fort Morgan Peninsula. This entire area is known for the outstanding opportunities for bird watching. There are some very nice walking and bicycling trails on Ft. Morgan Road. We added a map of the historic Fort

Morgan, a United States seacoast defense fort on Mobile Point, exhibits the evolution of American coast defense fortifications from 1834 through World War II. The on site museum's collection includes artillery pieces, military uniforms, small arms, accoutrements, and memorabilia from the 19th century through World War II. Archival collections contain many original photographs, manuscripts, and documents. Special programs include a living history encampment the first weekend in August. At various times during the year, War Between the States reenactments take place on the grounds of
Ft. Morgan.
