In the 2005 Red Snapper World Championship winner caught a 38 lb. snapper. This is the largest bottom fishing tournament in the world right here in Alabama. Recreational fishermen can use their own boat or go on a charter fishing boat from our area's fine fishing fleet. You can join as an individual and the boat can join for a chance at even more prizes. Areas include Dauphin Island, Mobile, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Marinas in  Orange Beach, Dauphin Island and Gulf Shores will be selling tournament tickets. All weigh-ins are at Zeke's Marina in Orange Beach between 1-7 p.m. and Dauphin Island Marina from 2 to 6 p.m.  After the first two of these events, the Red Snapper World Championship non-profit organization donated more than $500,000 to deploy 450 public atrificial reefs, fund representation in Washington, and fund red snapper research.  For more info www.orangebeachsnapper.com
